The Honorable Prime Minister of Bangladesh Her Excellency Sheikh Hasina inaugurated a Train Service between Dhaka Rajshahi with newly built Indian Coaches. The Silk City express will have 12 coaches which consists of 2 AC chaircars(78 seats each), 2 first AC coaches (24 berths each), 6 Non AC chaircars (105 seats each) and 2 power cars. The new coaches have aluminium body, German LHB technology and FIAT bogey with disc brakes. The AC coaches have 15 Ton AC and the Non AC coaches have 36 fans fitted in each of them. There is a pantry in AC and Non AC chaircars for passenger’sconveniences. The Coaches have been built in Rail Coach factory in Kapurthala, Punjab, India.
The High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh H.E. Shri Harsh VardhanShringla and Additional Secretary & Finance and Financial Advisor, MEA, Govtof India Dr. SumithJerath attended the programme. The coaches are financed under the first Indian Line of Credit to Bangladesh. 60 out of 120 coaches have already reached Bangladesh. The rest are expected to arrive by DEC 2016.
