With a view to further enhancing the existing excellent trade and business relations between Bangladesh and Nepal and to introduce and familiarize the Nepalese entrepreneurs and consumers to the wide variety of products that are being produced and exported globally by Bangladesh, the Embassy of People Republic of Bangladesh in Nepal organized a five-day single country trade fair, the “3rd Bangladesh Expo-2017” from 17-21 January 2017 in Kathmandu, Nepal at Brhikutimandap Exhibition hall, which has been implemented by U Turn with the association of Synthesis Exhibition and Events from Nepal.
This ceremony was inaugurated by Mr. Deepak Bohra, Minister for Supplies Government of Nepal and Ambassador of Bangladesh to Nepal Ms. MashfeeBinte Shams. The inaugural program was also attended by Naindra Prasad Upadhaya, Secretary of Ministry of Commerce of Nepal, Hari Bhakti Sharma, President of CNI, Dr. Rajesh KaziShrestha, President of NCC and BhawaniRana, Senior Vice President of FNCCI as Special Guests.
This five-day Expo was mostly focus on introducing and familiarizing the wide variety of goods and products that are being manufactured and exported globally by Bangladesh to Nepali entrepreneurs and consumers with a view to further enhancing the existing excellent trade and business relations between Bangladesh and Nepal.
The Expo was showcasing products of entrepreneurs and renowned business houses from Bangladesh including Building and construction materials, Ready Made Garments, Plastic products, Cosmetics, Ceramics/tiles, Jute and jute products, Leather products, Textiles, Footwear, Electronics items, Handicrafts, generators/machineries, Processed food, IT Solutions, Education Institutions, Consumer products, Batteries, Cement, Bathroom Fittings, Motor Cycle, Home Appliance, Jewelry etc.
Selected Nepalese exporters had also been invited to showcase their products at the Expo with a view to promoting Nepalese exports to Bangladesh. It was expected that the Expo will create a platform for exchange of information and ideas and provide an opportunity for entrepreneurs of the two countries to explore B-2-B linkages for harnessing the available synergies in the areas of trade and business for mutual benefit.
Bangladesh exports increasing every year in Nepal. And Walton, a conglomerate based in Bangladesh that produces electronics, motor vehicles, and telecommunications products already took their own share of market. Rahimafrooz group also a well-known name in Nepal for the best Battery Manufacturer Company as well as Pran-RFL for their consumer products. Conglomerate like ACI Group, Ifad Multi Products Ltd., Bashundhara Group and Sajeeb Foods, Daffodil Family, MIR Ceramic and Cement, Sharif Metal, NOA Food, Golden Son, Galaxy Electro Power etc. companies also attend in this expo. A number of Bangladeshi Educational Institution and IT solutions companies were also planning to venture their services in Nepal after their participation.
Other prominent participants of the fair were Apex Footwear, the biggest Bangladeshi leather footwear brand, and Runner, Bangladeshi manufacturer of two-wheelers. Through Runner Bangladesh has started a glorious journey in its industrialization by stepping into the global market through exporting motorcycles to Nepal.
